The Supreme Court has quashed injunction brought to it by IMANI Ghana and Security Expert Dr. Kwesi Ennin which sought to prevent President Mahama fro. Removing immediate past IGP, George Akuffo Dampare from his position.
The injunction sought to restrain the President from removing head of security agencies until substantive case is determined in May 2025.
In a ruling on Tuesday March 25, 2025, a 5 member panel led by Justice Baffoe-Bonnie ruled that the ongoing case should not prevent the President from exercising his constitutional mandate.
Imani’s suit argued that removing the heads of security before the case would have been unjust and premature.
They contended that the case raises constitutional issues and that the balance of convenience favors the applicant.
