A deputy General Secretary of the NDC has maintained that the Party has decided to field the current MP Hon. James Gyakye Quayson for the by-election.
He said the MP remains the best bet for the party going into the elections adding that he is loved by majority of the Indegenes in the Assin North Constituency.
His comments follows a letter from the Clerk of Parliament declaring the seat vacant today.
Mr. Gbande was speaking on Joy News’Top Story on Tuesday.
“We have decided to represent the MP for the by-election. We believe he is popular and his candidature will reinforce our base in the constituency”, the Deputy General Secretary stressed.
He gave the assurance that the NDC is going to retain the seat owing to the poor governance of the ruling NPP government that has brought upon excruciating pain to Ghanaians.
Meanwhile, the NPP is said to be in a crunch meeting to decide whether to maintain or change their Candidate.
Sources say the Electoral Commission will be announcing the date for the by-election on Wednesday.
