The Ghana Police Service has arrested Daniel Owusu Koranteng, also known as Akwasi Amakye, in connection with the 2019 kling of investigative journalist Ahmed Hussein-Suale.
Reports indicate that Amakye, a former colleague of Suale at Tiger Eye Private Investigations, allegedly leaked his photos to a politician before the tragic incident.
After the murder, Amakye fled to the UK but recently returned to Ghana, leading to his arrest at a salon in Amasaman-Adease.
The FBI reportedly provided crucial phone records linking him to Suale before his death.
The arrest has sparked controversy, with reports suggesting that a high-ranking police officer is attempting to secure his release on inquiry bail. This has raised concerns about possible interference in the case.
Suale, known for his investigative work with the BBC and Anas Aremeyaw Anas, was shot near his home in Madina in 2019, a crime that shocked the nation and the global media fraternity.
It would be recalled that the GJA gave the police March ending ultimatum to arrest Perpetrators of the dastardly crime failure.of which they shall trigger the International Court of Justice.
This arrest however brings a sigh of relief to the media community who believed that the Police could have done better.
